It's been reported that the contents of the perfume bottle was enough to kill 4,000 people! Frightening to think that there are substances out there that are that powerful.

I hope our water supply is well protected!

Not that I think the Russians would be stupid enough to do anything like that, they don't want WW3 any more than we do.

But if this stuff fell into the hands of ISIS....

I'm sure I read in a credible source ( not a national newspaper) that water deactivates Novichok so supplies should be safe .
How can any one say how many could have been killed without knowing the original contents of the bottle? Still a lot of unfounded speculation methinks

A similar quantity of ebo,a in an aerosol would kill 100 times that number.

water deactivates Novichok

If it did Salisbury could have been decontaminated by a rain shower.

I'm sure I read that rain did wash some if it off the doorknob, rendering it less harmful and preventing quick death.

But then, six articles six different theories....

As you can imagine, we spent quite a lot of time learning decontam procedures. None of them involved just walking through a drencher!

Min mum was usually strip naked, drencher, half dozen passes, rub down by suited attendants, a few more passes under the drencher, check with monitor if applicable, then through an airlock system into a clean area, dry off and clean clothes.

Some of these things are quite persistent (anthrax can be 100 years!).

And there hangs a dread for the future. Russia is what's called a World Nation and has to be careful of what the world thinks or feels. ISIS is what's described as a Terror group and has IMHO no scruples.

You can screw up the water supply (and the grid) without such esoteric measures.

Dave.

Laurie - You seem to justify the fact that the Rusky government, or any other government, can send goons into another sovereign nation and cover a large area with nerve gas, that is banned in conventional war?

The polonium was traced all the way from Russia and back there.

I don't think the Novochok was delivered as a gas but as a liquid.

The polonium, delivers some years agi was only in a very small quantity, was delivered precisely, not ober a large area.

I make no attempt to justify such attacks, from Russia or anyone else, on British soil.

I spent the whole of my my working life opposing the Russians. Know, and respect the capabilities of, your enemy.

The world is waiting for Russia’s reaction after a series of missile strikes launched on its ally, Syria, this weekend but will Putin attack the UK?
