Strange how fanaticism, of any kind, simply denies ALL evidence.

What evidence?

The speculation that people died because of the aftereffects of a hurricane?

Well, it brought Florence and Mangkhut for starters.

There's a reason they call June 1 through Nov. 30 Hurricane Season. Because it happens every year.

The new estimate comes from a study conducted by the Milken Institute of Public Health at George Washington University

“They did not die in the hurricane.

They died in pain, at home, of kidney failure unable to access the dialysis clinic for weeks.
They died, gasping for hours near the end, when the oxygen tank they needed to breathe gave out.
They died in the dark and the heat of unsanitary ICU units, of burns or gunshot wounds received before the hurricane that they almost certainly would have survived otherwise.
They died, burning up with fever, of leptospirosis from being in touch with flood waters during the effort to save their neighbors.
They died in fear and confusion after being forced to go off their regular medication.
They died of heat stroke.

They died of diseases of antiquity, in a crisis of neglect unworthy the greatest, wealthiest and most powerful nation in human history.

They died. But we lived. And we remember.

Just a quick look at the news...

"Geraldo Blames Incompetent…Negligent…Corrupt Puerto Rican Leadership; Praises Trump For Sending Help":

I don't know why we haven't heard about this:

Of course the blame for anything that happened wrong in Puerto Rico after Hurricanes Irma and María can be shared by local governments.

"What may be millions of water bottles from FEMA sitting on Puerto Rico tarmac, photos show" not distributed...

It can't be blamed on the President or FEMA...

Stolen trailers...

"It was the local mayor's responsibility..."

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were there doing their job.

There should be US Senate and FBI inquires into exactly what happened, and investigations into local incompetence and stolen and misappropriated FEMA supplies in Puerto Rico.

Marty Bahamonde, director of disaster operations for FEMA’s Office of External Affairs, told CBS on Thursday that "FEMA moved the bottled water outdoors in January as a cost-cutting measure.
https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/0 ... 3526610/As the water started to come back through the regular water system, and that started to increase, 90, 95 percent of people had water in their homes, there was less and less of a demand for the bottled water that was on the island,” Bahamonde told CBS........ The water was undrinkable after months outside in the heat and sun.

But by the time 700 bottles were distributed, the water was undrinkable, with residents complaining of its foul smell and taste.

Angel Cruz Ramos, mayor of Ceiba, where the runway is located, told CNN he's grateful for the generosity but believes too much water was delivered at the wrong time. "The time and heat has made it bad," he said.

Given the complaints, Mercader said, the government decided not to continue using the water bottles in order to carry out tests and give the water back to the federal government. He said FEMA should have given out the water immediately after Hurricane Maria or declared them excess inventory before April.

The water supplied by FEMA was left for the local authorities to distribute. In emergencies, the US Government, state/commonwealth, and local authorities work together.

Independent studies give the correct death toll.

Sad and shameful that fanaticism will use even tragic deaths as a weapon.

Yeah, independent studies that said Puerto Rican Doctors didn't know how to fill out a death certificate the way those conducting the study wanted them too.

From "793 to 8,498." Medical doctors can’t be trusted to determine “cause of death” for their patients, but college students can...

'Desperation' seems to apply much more to the fanatical followers of the little man with the bird nest on his head.

Desperate for what? To get him elected? Oops, already done.

What's wrong with passing out paper towels?

And much, much more than paper towels.
