The night before last a local fishing boat sent a distress call and the lifeboat was launched.

In palling weather conditions a tow was passed and and the boat brought to safety, after eight hours.

Not unusual in this neck of the woods of course, but the saga took place within 800 yards of my bedroom window and I slept right through it!

Just after we moved here, 4 years ago, a school went up in flames and was completely destroyed, about 500 yards away. It was the biggest fire on the Island since the war, and we slept right through it. Never heard a thing!
