I left all my Agatha Raisen books in California and now my sis is reading them - she says she sometimes just
hates Agatha... Yeah, know the feeling.

They have become very formulaic - she's just churning them out now and some of the plots and situations are repeats. Hardly a challenging read but they have made me giggle. I like her spirit. They are totally unrealistic comedy fantasies of course!

I have the full set of her books, I loved them. But when Sky made the 'film' of her first book I would have refused to watch it (we don't have Sky). The actress playing Agatha is nothing like the character as she is portrayed. The actress is tall, blonde, young and slim, Agatha is middle aged, chubby with piggy eyes.
Zoe Wanamaker or even Caroline Quentin would have been far better.

Agatha Christie was a small scurrying lady with enquiring eyes ,often knitting ......Joan Hickson almost fits the description as Christie once said

Love Joan Hickson in the Agatha Christie Miss Marple books - she's the best!
Lottie, we were talking about Agatha Raisen, the character in M.C.Beaton's series...
Aside: One of my names in Agatha...after my maternal gram, who was Missouri
Agatha Lee. I can remember as a child simply being embarrassed by this... My
gram called me Agatha until her death - how I loved her !!

I only found out the other day that Gracie Fields once played Miss Marple. I have never seen the film in question but cannot help thinking it must have been a hideous bit of miscasting.
