Re: Job Losses

My point was only about Scotland and how Chinese immigrants, already offered incentives, will be welcomed here.

Re: Job Losses

You miss my point entirely, which is that the Chinese, as people, are very industrious and will turn their hand to any work that becomes available, no matter what their skill set. Your neighbour to the south depended on them to lay railways, mine gold, yes, and do their laundry and a myriad of other...

Not my experience of the Chinese people who come to, and are already in, Scotland, whether from Hong Kong, Taiwan or the mainland, and whether rural folk or Kowlooners..

However, I bow to Norm's superior knowledge.

Re: Job Losses

Lots of space in Scotland, send them there. The government has made it clear that they will be welcome. We already have special arrangements in place to help Chinese (mainland) students, more would not be a problem. We have crops rotting in the ground and on the vine because of the Westminster Gove...

Don't mind requests, or even Hall of Fame, but I find some the presenters, no names, no packdrill, presenting their own choice favour trebles and boy sopranos too much for my taste!

So far as Rowans is concerned I do check in daily, but don't seem to have much of relevance to post these days.

And He'll Vote In November!

Just had a Fourth of July email from an American friend of long standing.

Hr refers, entirely routinely, as a matter of course, to "stay home in the throes of this Chicom biowarfare."!

They really believe this,stuff.

Re: Coloured surnames

I've known a couple of Octavias, but only as a first name, not a surname.

If we're on Romans, Caesar is not uncommon, as a surname.

That's how long I listened to Classic FM before they were playing little boys warbling away.

Wasn't automated, automatic calls don't get through the monitoring service.

Wii if it's the compost it could be anything organic from tea bags to turnip leaves. Though they don't normally use anything that will rot rather than dry out.

That's the quoted figure so presumably that's the figure that Dominic will accept, and who's to say him nay?

Which Bit of "I am disabled" Do You Not Understand?

Had a phone message from my stairlift company yesterday. Being a stairlift company you'd think they'd be conversant with disability problems. In addition to my answering machine my monitoring service tells callers I cannot use the telephone because of disability, and please email or leave an email a...

Not to mention the "up to 3 million" Hong Kongers who may run to Britain. They'll all need jobs.
Chinese folk don't think the world owes them a living and will take any job going.

They will solve our cropping problems at a stroke! They will force a quantum leap in educational standards.

The Mafia quickly took hold of the 'mountains' of food and 'lakes' of wine, selling them around the world at high profits. The damage was done long before that, The reason de Gaulle said "No" to British membership was because he did not want a dissenting voice. Not that we were any better, but we w...

Yes I'm afraid the three founding members had firm ideals, bur exactly what they wanted to avoid came to pass, domination by France and Germany, and a grab what you can free for all for the more "inefficient" administrations.

Lots of police vehicles and patrols in town this morning.

I thought there was some sort of incident, but it appears they were doing a sweep for tourists!

Maybe after Brexit gets reversed, and your government is willing to do the same, new industry can grow where you live too.

The livelihood of Brexit being reversed is pretty remote, like never!

In any event these big multinationals mostly have their European headquarters on the mainland.
