Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

Who cares what Campbell has to say about this, it's an irrelevance. More political deflection.

Why should Cummings not have to resign when the other two did? That's the question. Why did Matt Hancock condemn Ferguson so vehemently but make excuses for Cummings.

Oh, leave her be, she is happy.
Would you mind not coming simply to make personal remarks? By all means give your opinion on what makes Cummings a special case, when Ferguson and Calderwood were not. Very happy to hear that.

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

You are bringing politics into it. Brexit, remainiac, general election, Corbynista, Guardianista.... Political. It's a simple issue. The rule-maker broke the guidance and also legislation that the population were meant to follow. Most did follow them, even though it wasn't always in the best interes...

'And the case of Labour's Stephen Kinnck -- a journey of hundreds of miles to see his parents? Are you still affecting not to have noticed Labour MP Kevan Jones and his own lengthy Durham foray for a constituent's birthday party? Ditto Labour MP Tahir Ali and his 100 miles for a funeral? Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

The more I learn about this episode, the more inclined I am to retract my earlier statement that he should be sacked. Circumstances certainly alter cases and had he been in the government but not instrumental in instituting lockdown policies, eyebrows would hardly have been raised. At the end of th...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

I think Boris is doing a remarkably good job in the current circumstances. I can think of only three people who have the necessary skills to do better. 1. Comrade KE 2. Lighthouse 3. Jeremy Corbyn. They would never agree, Pat. Numbers 1 and 2 are much too far to the left for number three. Why not s...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

That right-wing meme makes no sense, as well as conflating two unrelated issues (for right-wing effect.)

The Cummings family did not simply do as it states. Much bigger breaches.

The Barrow case has been all over the press, if it's the one I've read about.

Well, I worry that it's too soon. I'm not changing my behaviour yet. Give it three weeks and see what the infection rate is.

I though it was a joint effort, all hands to the pump - NHS Procurement (NHS SBS) did a lot in a very short time. https://www.sbs.nhs.uk/news-emergency-response Nightingales didn't have to be used much as it happened - the NHS coped and it was a government priority,, although you could argue that ca...

Re: A New Global 'Flu'?

There will be a second wave of infections most likely, hopefully smaller than the first but no guarantee of that. I really wouldn't be in a rush to change behaviour just yet, I'm going to wait to see what happens to the R. Thankful I don't have children about to go back to school. In other news...WT...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

Easing the lockdown does smack a bit too much of trying to take the flack away from Cummings. As somebody once said - A good moment to bury bad news - or words to that effect. Yes, and also the hurried bringing forward of the test/tracing system, which clearly isn't properly ready and is minus the ...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

I think Johnson is worried that if Cummings goes, he could say anything he likes once he's not constrained by his job. He's notoriously frank on his personal blog and has some unusual radical ideas about how the country should be governed, in fact he's a maverick in all sorts of ways. Could easily e...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

Some are backed by legislation and some aren’t. Police think Cummings likely breached the law, others think he also breached his own guidelines. It might be better for Boris if he agreed to go.. having him hang around will drag them down and keep it all festering.

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

It's law - there's legislation specifically for breaches. Coronavirus Act 2020 and the Regulations which are a Statutory Instrument. That's why the police can issue financial penalties and they have in some cases. They refer to this 'enforcement' possibility re. Cummings' breach. If people refuse to...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

Gething - Welsh government said he didn't break the Welsh regulations. Kinnock - didn't hide what he did, in fact he announced it at the time. He genuinely thought it was allowed because he was delivering necessary supplies to vulnerable self-isolators. Police said they 'appreciated the clarificatio...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

People are concerned that the rule-setter is the unapologetic flouter, backed up by a weak PM in thrall to him. For some who made very upsetting sacrifices not to travel, to have this effort trashed is deeply personal. Please, no whataboutery about the war to deflect from this government crisis. Joh...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

It's a question of whether the government want to bring in a law that makes it illegal. They haven't. The press like 'freedom' and governments are wary of annoying them, in case it leads to attacks. Look at the endless personal attacks the Leveson contributors still get - Coogan a case in point. The...

Re: Please Contribute to My Fund.

It's not the same kind of lockdown - people can go out multiple times a day, they can drive further...more shops have opened. That's why everywhere is so much busier. The rules changed. People are relaxing and becoming more casual (spurred on by this rule breach in part, I have to say). The gang of ...

Unsafe how? More unsafe than all the houses where people didn’t break the rules he helped to set? Taking a pleasure trip to a castle against the rules.. Hardly! Barnard Castle is a small market town in county Durham. He did not go to "the castle" at all. Just wondering if I should take this drug, if the medical evidence says clearly it’s a good idea.
Does it say that? If so please show it. I have seen only warnings.
